Dude, what an incredible show this was. I am so exited to blog about this. So Halloween night I took Candace to a surprise concert of Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals at the beautiful Gusman theather in downtown Miami. If you’ve ever seen a concert at the legendary Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC than you know what I am talking about, very intimate show.
I saw Ben Harper about 3 years ago at the Sunfest, however this show was so amazing, I’ve seen many concerts and to date, I thought the best show I have seen was Coldplay. I think I have a new favorite show. This guy is an uber talent and totally under rated. I don’t understand why he is not on the radio. He reminds me of Sam Cook, James Brown, Marvin Gaye and even Bob Marley and I think if he was around in the 60′s he would have been huge. His music is very harmonic, acoustic and peaceful. I think I saw him play every instrument possible with the exception of the cow bell. He has this instrument that looks like an acoustic guitar which he plays on his lap and it almost looks like a DJ scratching, unbelievable.
Anyway, I snapped a few images and I would like to share them here with my blog friends. If you’ve never heard of Ben Harper, go check him out. He is one of the few true artists left that are very original.

I think this one is my favorite shot.

Here is that instrument he was playing on his lap.

Nice flare on the mirror ball

This was when he sang a prayer without a mic. The place got so quiet, you could drop a needle and hear it.

We saw a lot of people in costumes, here is banana guy and below chicken man doing the chicken dance.
