I clearly remember the first time I met with Elle and James more than a year ago. We knew instantly that we were dealing with a very special couple here. Elle looked very weak and she had a oxygen tank by her side. After asking her about that she told us she is on a lung donor waiting list. The very next day she got the call, a donor was found and she was going in to have her double lung transplant. While all this was going James decided to commission us to shoot the wedding not knowing how Elle will do. When I met them a few month later for their engagement shoot at the Victor Hotel in South Beach (where James proposed) I was shocked how good Elle looked, “hot” if I may say so. Speaking of hot, Elle also did a beauty session as a wedding day gift to James. James told me at the wedding that he loves the images and that she looks beautiful.
Anyway, Elle and James…thank you. I’ve been looking forward to your wedding ever since meeting you and I’m so incredibly honored to have documented such a special moment in your lives. I couldn’t think more highly of you and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for your amazing lives. While getting creative with the rings I noticed the words “Better Together” engraved inside the rings so for the slideshow a little Jack Johnson.

Elle looked B-E-AUTIFUL

I love those moments, when the groom sends the bride a note or present.

James and his entourage at the church

I love this shot…..and YES I cut the heads off purposely.

Bride’s dad in a burst of emotions….priceless moment.

We headed out to the streets of Coconut Grove for some “street action”

First dance and a dip

Crying makes such great pictures.

A room or area where food is prepared and cooked. Well that definition needs to be re-defined when Candace is in that room. All of you who follow me on twitter or facebook know that we have been up to great things regarding our kitchen. For the past 2 weeks we have been kitchen-less, eating take out from paper plates and using our friends kitchen to cook. Yesterday we had our first official home cooked meal on real plates.
Candace, a passionate chef has a killer food blog and we’ve wanted to completely redesign our kitchen for a while now. This kitchen will be the back drop to a new project that we will be doing soon on her blog ishotthechef.com as well as an invitation only “Supper Club”. 2 lucky couples will be invited while Candace will bring on the major yummies.
Anyway, last night I took some cool “after” images and I am so stoked to show off my new kitchen. I know there are lots of you who are dying to see it. By the way I want to give the guys that did all the work a compliment, they did an AMAZING job. If you need handy men, send me an email and I will send you their info. (I will not post it to prevent overwhelming them) besides I still need them for other work around my crib ;)
The first image is my favorite overall image.

The “before” kitchen was…. ugly. Mismatched appliances, cheap cabinets, no granite

The thing I hated the most, was that odd looking island with a step up bar.

The first few days were mostly demolition work. Lots of dust.

We completely rewired the electric for the new cabinets while Rocky is looking for his food dish.

We got rid of all the red and went with this new paint which compliments the new cabinets and the granite.

Candy starts to look stoked about the progress.

All finished! Cabinets are from IKEAriffic. We made at least 8 trips there for missing parts.

Back splash is glass tile. The granite is black galaxy. Both purchased at Ace Granite in Pompano Beach.

The new island is the heart of this kitchen. We have extended it by 15 inches and made it in one level.

Kohler faucet and soap dispenser.

Check out the cool reflection. I think I have a new spot to shoot food for Candace’s blog.

Last week I met with a super cool couple at my studio for a casual engagement session. We had about 3 minutes of sun before clouds moved in and we had to cut the session short. Also Michelle saw on my blog some of the previous engagement sessions I have shot with dogs so we may be doing a 2nd shoot this week… this time with the pooch.
Here are a few of my picks. I am looking forward to this amazing wedding in January.

My signature sun flair shot. Don’t ask me about my flair, I dont like to talk about it.

Philip was a little nervous at first but who is not?

While I was doing my street action shots, this car parked right next to me. So inappropriate.
